Science: Today we reviewed the concepts of resistance, current, and voltage.  We then explored the relationship between the 3 and graphed these relationships.  Please see the following notes and activities on this topic, which were introduced in class last week Math:  We practiced mental math skills while solving multiplication operations with multiples of 10.
Science:  Today in science we built various series and parallel circuits to observe the difference in flow of electrons in both.  Students observed that the light bulbs tend to be brighter when placed in parallel vs. when placed in a series circuit. Math: Today we learned about estimating products (multiplication) and quotients (division) and applying it to real-world word problems.  To estimate the product or quotient, round the numbers to the nearest whole numbers, then multiply.  This is meant to be quick and easy to do mentally, so we tried not to use calculators, and limited our aids to multiplication charts.  The students did great! The following links have the practice work we did today: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1VxrxxPlmXqBJM-uRAu13-Mlpw55SmeK2 https://drive.google.com/open?id=1LZtWBrSFQ6u62OVU_RhpVCVHnBydxdxc
Science: Today we learned about circuits and tested various conductors and insulators in a circuit. Math:  We continued with addition and subtraction of integers.  It is recommended that you draw a number line. Homework:  Please do math practice on Mathletics.
Science: Today we learned about conductors and insulators and further talked about how static electricity works. Math: We did addition/subtraction operations with integers using algebra tiles.  Adding integers with tiles video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUzj4kXgXKA Subtracting integers with tiles video: Subtracting integers with tiles video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5v57aayD5M Homework:  Mathletics 'Integers: add and subtract'
Today in Science: Through demonstrations and discussions, we learned about static electricity.  Please watch this summary video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yc2-363MIQs Today in Math: We practiced estimating sums by going through real-world problems together.
Math: Today we reviewed comparing and ordering integers on a number line Homework handout: http://www.learnalberta.ca/content/kes/pdf/or_cf_math_num_d_02_comppos.pdf Please also practice the concepts on Mathletics Science: We reviewed energy forms, conversions, and input/output.  We discussed how energy is wasted and what things we can do everyday to save electric energy in our homes. We watched the following video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC3C_8eQgeE
