We have been exploring powers of ten and scientific notation. Handouts:  Powers of 10 and scientific notation worksheet Powers worksheet Assignment #1 - to be handed in when finished Homework:  Practice on Mathletics Science:  We have been reviewing terminology and related to energy and energy conversions Handout: Energy and Energy conversions fill-in the blank - Vocabulary table
Today in Math: We explored powers of 10 and scientific notation. In Science:  We reviewed and made notes about the various forms of energy.

Today we reviewed powers and went over expanded notation. Please see https://drive.google.com/open?id=1an5DKCR0lOYNYOf7vaPH8Auq8tlJ8l3R   for powers worksheet In Science, we started working through important vocabulary for Electric Principles and Technologies
Today in Math, we learned about powers and modeled squares and cubes using the unifix cubes. Homework:  Practice concepts on Mathletics.
Students reviewed their understanding  of powers today.  They also reviewed a few concepts from the last two weeks, including factors, multiples, composites and prime numbers.  Please practice concepts on Mathletics at home. In science, we reviewed the topic of energy conversion and did a Kahoot to practice identifying the difference energy conversions that take place in our everyday.  Students need to know the different forms of energy (i.e. electrical, mechanical, kinetic, thermal (heat), sound, radiant (light), chemical, nuclear) Have a great weekend!
Today in Science:  We built storage cells (batteries)  out of lemons, paper clips, and pennies.  Students are learning about the conversion of other energy forms to electric energy (i.e. chemical -> electric) Math; Reviewing recent concepts. Homework:  Please ensure the student is practicing math concepts at home using Mathletics.
January 15 Science: Students have been learning about energy conversions.  They did a short lab where they were able to determine the forms of energy conversions for common household appliances. Handout:  Energy conversions worksheet Math:  Students are reviewing, estimation, rounding, factors, multiples, composites, and prime factorization on Mathletics Homework: Please do one Mathletics assignment at home January 16 Science:  Students learned about storage cells and discussed what a basic alkaline battery is made of.  They were also introduced to other types of batteries Handout:  Fill-in the blank  "Storage Cells" Videos watched:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzTlyM-IA-I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhbuhT1GDpI Homework: please do the worksheet if you missed class.  It can be found at the following link: Please see google drive with both Math and Science HW and resources for K&E: https://drive.google.com/open?i...
Happy Monday! Today in Math and Science Math:  Students learned about prime factorization, using factor trees.  We also learned about the difference between and prime and a composite number.  Handouts:  Prime factorization practice sheet Homework:  do the associated Mathletics practice for prime factorization and composites Science:  We are starting the new unit on Electrical Principles and TechnologiesStudents learned about various forms of energy and were able to research and identify examples for each form of energy. Handouts:  Forms of energy notes and matching picture Homework: Watch  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qmSzMwTkpk
Happy new year and welcome back!! We have been continuing in math and science this week.  Science: we wrapped up the space unit by talking about issues involved in exploring space and reviewing the big concepts. Math:  We are working on multiples and factors.  Please do the associated Mathletics practice. Handouts:  Multiples sheet, factors sheet.
